iPhone pictures

Starting to take a lot of shots with my iPhone, and working with some of the really interesting post-processing programs available. None of these have been worked on in Photoshop – they are all done via native iPhone apps, like Perfect Camera, TiltShiftGen and CameraBag. These allow a very wide range of visual latitude using the basic iPhone camera, and really give you an ability to craft the image you are trying to record (once you have a feel for the apps).

Sometimes the iPhone just sees things weirdly – like the red coffee cup; something to do with the 60-cycle neon, I guess. Odd.

New closeup ring-flash!

My birthday was recently, and my Dad bought me a really wonderful ring-flash for my Canon Digital SLR that makes getitng the right lighting on extreme closeups possible. Very, very cool. I don’t really know what I’m doing as far as settings yet, but the inital test run was very promising. Here are some of the keepers from that batch (mostly taken at the Seattle zoo and a neighbor’s garden).

Massive re-work underway

I’ve been moving all of the various blogs (not just mine) that we serve here to WordPressMU (multi-user), so decided to tweak the theme for this one heavily as a test. This site is going to be flipping about a LOT over the next weeks as I use it as a test-bed.

Memorial Day weekend

Spring is rolling through here quickly. Already the Rhododendrons and Lilacs are all but gone, and the poppies and other more “summery” flowers are out in force.

First the “backyard safari” shots:

And on to the obligatory close shots of the colors that are in-season:

April’s end.

As April draws to a close, the tulips and other early Spring flowers are pretty much history. New flowers are starting to go berserk (like the ubiquitous Rhododendrons), and the Rise of the Spiders is clearly on the horizon.

Missed one

Just noticed that I missed posting this shot from the April 22 group. This foo-lion is guarding someone’s yard down the street. He seemed serene about the ass-deep in horsetails thing.

April Sunbreak

Been getting a lot of Spring rain here, but we had some nice sun breaks this weekend, and the light cooperated long enough for us to take a hour-long safari into the backyard again. Pretty big batch of pictures resulted.

Since it’s Spring, flowers seem to be in abundance. Go figure.

A short break in the rain

It’s been raining pretty steadily, but we got brief sun-breaks here and there, and Snow and I managed to get in two 30-minute photo junkets over two days. Here are a few:
